Ashenafi Argaw is sincerely dedicated to uplifting the lives of people in Ethiopia through his work in coffee. As a producer and exporter, he understands the ins and outs of the hard work it takes to cultivate great coffee and deliver it into the hands of importers and roasters around the world.

Ashenafi draws on over 15 years of experience as a member of the Sidama Coffee Farmers' Cooperative Union, Furra Institute of Development Studies, and past work as the Global Sales, Global Logistics, and Operations Director of Ninety Plus Coffee to create economic impact for the producers who entrust their coffee to him. Every cherry delivery to the Idido Washing Station destined for his company, Ardent Coffee Export, comes with a traceability document, and farmers are paid premium prices for their harvests.

The Idido Washing Station serves traditional smallholder farmers in Yirgacheffe who maximize land use by intercropping coffee with food crops. Agriculture is organic-by-default, and very little fertilizer or pesticide is used. Nearly all the farming and processing methods are done by hand, often through the efforts of immediate family members.

In addition to Ethiopian coffee export, Ardent also extends a hand to the communities in Bensa and Yirgacheffe with two Ardent Children Center orphanages that care for 72 children. The centers provide care, support, security, food, and education to children in coffee-growing areas, empowering them through high school and college with the resources they need to kindle their potential.
